Canada to U.S.

A U.S. consignee needs a U.S. customs broker depending on where the freight will clear customs. J.B.M. Logistics is not a customs broker, so we do not provide these services, however we can provide assistance to contact a broker.

U.S. to Canada

The Canadian importer or purchaser must use a Canadian customs broker. The shipper should identify the broker on the bill of lading.

The shipper must contact the customs broker to set up an account. The parties must agree on the services to be provided, the fees, and payment terms prior to shipping.
When the broker has been selected all parties must be informed as to which customs broker has been designated to process the shipment. This must be completed prior to pickup of the shipment.
The cargo is insured to a maximum of $2.00 per pound unless additional insurance coverage is requested.
Normally, the importer will be billed by the customs broker for duty and taxes. The  broker determines duty (if applicable) along with taxes, and reports the charges to customs on behalf of the client.
